Hotel Conte - Perast, Montenegro |
|
Perast, a small town which used to be a border village of the Venetian Republic to the Turks, today represents one of the most beautiful locations that Montenegro has to offer to tourists from around the world. This small baroque city was at its peak in the 17th and the 18th century. At that time, Perast had a merchant fleet of approximately 100 vessels.
Rich in natural beauty as well as cultural and historical heritage, Perast has kept its authentic spirit and appearance, allowing its visitors to experience Europe as it might have been centuries ago.
In addition to the many palaces, chapels and churches, this small baroque city offers its guests the hotel and restaurant Conte, a destination which has been recognized as ideal for those seeking respite from the relentless pace of modern life.
Hotel Conte offers luxury apartments of different sizes, including single and double bedroom family apartments together with small studios for one or two persons.
Conte restaurant offers a wide selection of local seafood specialties and international cuisine, and it is known for its high-quality reputation where visitors can enjoy authentic ambience and stunning views of Kotor bay in addition to the two islands of St. George and Our Lady of The Rock.

"The Hotel Conte is located on Kotor Bay, certainly one of the most beautiful places in the world and by far the loveliest in Montenegro. We had a huge room with a panoramic view over the bay, with loads of cupboard space and a light and airy feel to it. The bathroom is small but functional, again with plenty of storage space. The bell tower (from the local church) was immediately in front of our room and we were hoping the bells were out of order. No such luck but you sleep through after the first time! The bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed the best sleep we'd had in months. The restaurant has an extensive menu and wine list. The outdoor restaurant is immediately across the road and situated right on the water..... a spectacular setting for lunch and lit up by the lights of the bar of a night time. We missed breakfast as it wasn't served until 11am. Our plans included lots of sight seeing each day and this was just a bit too late a start for us. The hotel arranged for breakfast to be delivered to our room and the cold platter was enjoyable, although there was no drinks served, either hot or cold.
The staff at Hotel Conte were helpful and friendly at all times and ensured our stay was an enjoyable one.
There is free internet in the office and you can pick up the signal in the restaurant or whilst enjoying the waterside. This hotel is a gem and Perast is so well situated for day trips - Kotor, Budva, Herceg-Novi, Dubrovnik, all easily accessible. If you want a wonderfully peaceful holiday then Perast and the Hotel Conte are the perfect combination. (Continued in next post)
"This place is EXCELLENT. Not cheap, mind you, but not exorbitant. You sit outside (or I did - this was in September) on the sort of platform jutting out over the bay. Tables with plenty of space between them. Attentive waiters, but not standing too close, and the half-bottle of wine they brought me was excellent - and just right with the prawns.
If the weather's dodgy or you you want some shade, you can also eat inside – I had my breakfast there (very good too) the next morning. I see on the website they also have a few rooms.
Favorite Dish: I had prawns in sauce, and they were the best prawns I’ve ever had. In fact it dawned on me as I ate that THIS is what prawns SHOULD taste like, that I'd subconsciously known it all the time, and the reason why I’d been slightly disappointed with prawns everywhere else is because they hadn’t tasted like this. A French-trained chef, maybe ? "
